Traffic laws at intersections, what do you need to know?

What are the traffic laws in Florida as they apply to intersections? What you should know to stay safe and avoid a ticket.
Driving vehicles on Volusia and Flagler county roadways can be quite dangerous, especially when entering into an intersection. Daytona Beach Automobile accident attorney Ron Zimmet Jr summarizes the driving in intersections.

Florida Statutes sections 316.121, 316.123 and 316.1235 all pertain to automobile traffic in intersections. The first thing to know that the once a vehicle is already in the intersection all vehicles entering the intersection from a different highway must yield the right of way. If two vehicles from different highways enter the intersection at the same time then the vehicle on the left shall yield the right of way.

If the intersection is a four-way stop intersection the driver of the first vehicle to stop shall be the first to proceed. If two or more vehicles come to a stop at the same time then the driver of the vehicle on the right shall have the right of way. If the intersection has a yield signal, a driver approaching the intersection shall slow down or stop to yield the right of way to any vehicle currently in the intersection.

If a driver hits a pedestrian in a cross walk or collides with a vehicle after driving past a yield sign without stopping the collision shall be prima facie (at first view) evidence that the collision occurred as a result of the drivers failure to yield the right of way.
